President Trump issued a deadline for the Iranian regime to come to an agreement with the United States, stating a “whole civilization will die tonight” if a deal is not reached. Discussing this pending deadline is CERL Executive Board Member General Joseph Votel who said on Fox News he believes the Trump administration is quite serious about this deadline and expects that, as the deadline nears, American strikes on Iran will increase to mount pressure on the Iranians to come to an agreement.

General Joseph L. Votel, U.S. Army (Ret.), is the former Commander of the U.S. Central Command. He is a Distinguished Military Fellow at the Middle East Institute and a member of the CERL Executive Board. Read his bio here
