In an opinion for The Morning Call, Brig. Gen. Stephen N. Xenakis, M.D., compares efforts by the Trump administration and Biden-Harris administration to address the physical and mental wounds of war sustained by active-duty military and veterans. The Biden-Harris administration has demonstrated a strong commitment to preventing suicide in the veteran community, as well as to making mental health resources accessible and strengthening the Veterans Affairs system, he notes.

Brig. Gen. Xenakis is an adult, child, and adolescent psychiatrist with many years of clinical, academic, and management experience. He is the Executive Director of APPA, an advisor for Physicians for Human Rights and the Center for Victims of Torture, and an Adjust Professor at Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is also a member of the CERL Executive Board. Read his bio here.
