As the Defense Department rapidly scales up its use of AI, it is also procuring massive bids for contracts to build out its AI infrastructure. In an article for FedTech, several experts including CERL Affiliated Faculty Member Michael Horowitz weighed in on the changes and what it means for the Pentagon’s efficiency in an increasingly automated age of warfare. Professor Horowitz noted that even if the fate of commercial AI shifts, the new contracts can still play an essential role in upgrading and integrating existing logistics systems.

Michael C. Horowitz is Director of Perry World House and Richard Perry Professor at the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of CERL’s Affiliated Faculty. Read his bio here.
